the boston herald threw out this incredible idea, it may be realistic, or unrealistic. president obama's post-election offer to sit down with vanquished gop rival mitt romney has spurred talk of a possible white house role for romney. in the campaign, obama proposed creating a new secretary of business cabinet post and that could be a perfect fit for romney. ana, is that ridiculous? >> yes. if you say so. it's so absurd i don't even know what to tell you. >> ana, but it's a great idea. you know, so long as this guy sticks to what he knows, business, i think it's a great idea. i'm completely for it. >> there's one thing we learned about this election, and it's that mitt romney and barack obama do not like each other. to suggest to president obama that he appoint people that he likes, you know, a lot of the campaign has to do with beating up on mitt romney's business record. so it would be a little weird, i think. i mean i really think it would be like channeling the -- >> we could all have swiss bank accounts. >> all right. richard socarides, ana navarro, i've got to lea

so the influx of people kind of, you know, making that commute to boston area and moving from out of state in might have something to do with that swing. >> sure it does. brian, thanks very much. we'll watch new hampshire and the four electoral votes. >> our next battleground stop is colorado with its nine electoral votes. just like ohio, went for barack obama in 2008 after helping george w. bush win the white house in 2004. cnn's kung la is in colorado. are you getting a sense of who has the upper hand? >> reporter: well, the republicans saying they have the upper hand looking at who's actually voted, cast that vote, the republicans are leading by about 25,000 votes but that's not very much of a gap. what we're seeing here in this location i'm standing in, the early voting as you mentioned, kate, is over. but what people are doing is dropping off early ballots. they're -- these are the mail-in ballots. they can drop them off and murphy's law, no one's here but they can drive up, give their ballot to this gentleman and then he'll take the ballot and drop it in this red box. from here

heater hamby live in boston. let's go back to soledad. >> let's get right to the president's senior campaign adviser, david axelrod joining us this morning. let's talk about ohio. since peter hamby was just laying that out for us. if you look at likely voters, choice for president, cnn/orc poll, 50% for president obama, mitt romney at 47%. little more of a gap there if you're looking at the nbc/"wall street journal"/marist poll which is 51% to 45% for governor romney. when you talk to conservatives, karl rove, for example, he says listen, they're claiming a net gain for the gop in early voting in ohio from four years enough to wipe out the entire margin victory from 2008 for president obama the bottom line being like if they can win tonight that that means that the early votes won't won't matter. what do you say to that? >> of course karl got a bunch of folks to give him hundreds of millions of dollars to try and beat this president so i think he needs to -- he's in hyperspin there. the fact of the matter is that
